Fractional CTO's for Scaling Tech Companies.

How Scaling Tech Companies can Utilize Fractional CTO’s

Strategic Technology Roadmapping
A fractional CTO can help define and prioritize technology initiatives, aligning them with the company's business goals. This includes developing a scalable architecture, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), and creating a roadmap for technology implementation. By doing so, the company can ensure its technology infrastructure supports rapid growth and scalability.

Technical Due Diligence and M&A Support
When considering mergers and acquisitions, a fractional CTO provides invaluable expertise. They evaluate the target company's technology, assess integration feasibility and risks, and develop post-merger integration plans. This ensures technology synergy and consolidation, mitigating potential risks and maximizing the value of the acquisition.

Interim Technology Leadership
In times of rapid growth or transition, a fractional CTO can fill a temporary technology leadership gap. They provide guidance, oversee technology teams and projects, and ensure continuity and stability. This allows the company to maintain momentum while searching for a permanent CTO or addressing internal leadership changes.

Architecture and Infrastructure Optimization
A fractional CTO optimizes system architecture, improving scalability, security, and performance. They recommend cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. By streamlining technology infrastructure, the company reduces costs, enhances efficiency, and supports future growth.

Talent Acquisition and Development
To build a strong technical team, a fractional CTO assists with recruiting and interviewing key technical hires. They develop and implement effective engineering processes, mentor existing teams, and establish a robust technology culture. This enables the company to attract and retain top talent, driving innovation and growth.

Startup Story

Login.Health

As a healthcare entrepreneur, Jon Rhoades knows firsthand the frustrations of navigating the complex healthcare system. His own experiences with undiagnosed health issues and tedious paperwork sparked the idea for Login.health, a platform simplifying access to medical records.

This personal connection drove him to create a solution, addressing the systemic issues he faced. By streamlining patient data, Jon aimed to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce administrative burdens.

He teamed up with co-founder Chase, who brought valuable insights from the provider's perspective, particularly with billing. Together, they formed Valid. and dove into healthcare tech, overcoming numerous challenges.

From building an identity provider to navigating app store rejections, every step has been a learning experience. He acknowledges the journey's humility, making countless adjustments along the way. Despite the challenges, their vision remains clear: empowering patients to control their health records.

Their product, Login.health, streamlines patient data, eliminating waiting room paperwork and enabling providers to deliver personalized care. Patients can securely access all their medical information in one place, taking control of their health story.

However, convincing hospitals and healthcare providers to adopt new technology has been a significant hurdle. The healthcare industry is notoriously slow to embrace change, especially regarding patient data and security.

To overcome this, he focused on building strong relationships, demonstrating the platform's benefits for both patients and providers. Transparency about security measures helped earn trust. His ideal customer includes providers, health-tech startups, and payers seeking to enhance patient experience.

Reflecting on his journey, he advises fellow entrepreneurs to cultivate humility. "You may think you know what the customer wants, but I promise, you really don't." This mindset allows for adaptability and growth, essential for navigating the complex healthcare landscape and creating meaningful solutions.

Jon not only is a budding entrepreneur but he is very involved in the startup scene in Nebraska. He’s been a key proponent of bringing 1 Million Cups to Grand Island and he’s a great follow on LinkedIn!
