Building in Public🗣️
My logo decision

This week I had the fortune of starting and reviewing logos for the two startups I am working on right now. Something I cannot do myself, I’ve partnered with a few others to help with this. How did it go?

Creating logos for my two companies proved tougher than expected! A logo is crucial, serving as the first impression for new customers, key to brand recognition, and differentiation from competitors. It communicates a company's values, mission, and identity.

One of the biggest struggles I had was the thoughts of what else could be. The logo’s I have right now are great. But I’m having a hard time choosing the logo’s to move forward with, because of the possible options I could have if a few things were tweaked. This is a perfect example of something that will never be perfect. I need to realize that!

Resources 🛠️

A well-designed logo embodies several essential characteristics: simplicity, memorability, uniqueness, relevance, consistency, visual appeal, and timelessness. Investing in a professional logo elevates your brand, conveying professionalism and expertise.

To create an effective logo, consider resources like 99designs, Upwork, Fiverr, Logojoy, and Tailor Brands. By prioritizing logo design, you'll establish a lasting visual identity that resonates with your target audience and sets your brand up for success.

Startup Story

Savii

As a seasoned founder with experience in startups and leadership roles, Mary-Margaret Irish identified a recurring challenge: the complexity of employee benefits. This sparked the concept for Savii, a platform simplifying health benefits management through innovative technology and clear information. Driven by an obsessive focus on empowering individuals, Savii aims to turn confusion into clarity. Transitioning from established companies to founding a startup required strategic thinking and resilience. Developing the prototype was a pivotal milestone for Savii, proving their vision's necessity and possibility. Today, they are on an upward trajectory, prioritizing the mission to enhance lives by providing better tools for informed health benefits decisions.

What problem do you solve?
Savii solves six critical problems related to Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) management. They ensure compliance with regulations, maintain accurate documents, and manage financial aspects, including budget control and reimbursement processing. The platform also streamlines employee enrollment, provides ongoing support, and automates administrative tasks to boost operational efficiency. Additionally, Savii offers education and communication tools for employees and consultation services for employers. Their scalable and flexible solution adapts to changing business needs, allowing for customization and flexibility in benefits distribution.

Who’s your ideal customer?
Business Size and Type: Small to Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs):
These businesses often find traditional group health insurance plans costly and inflexible. ICHRAs offer a scalable solution that fits their budget and grows with them.

Startups: New businesses that need flexible, scalable benefits options as they grow.

Companies with Diverse Workforces: Businesses that have employees in various roles and locations, including full-time, part-time, seasonal, and remote workers, can benefit from the customizable nature of ICHRA.

Advice for first time founders.
To succeed as a startup founder, Mary-Margaret believes it's crucial to deeply understand your market and audience through ongoing research, beyond surface-level insights. She goes on to say building the right team is also vital, prioritizing diverse skills, thought, and shared vision. Effective financial management, particularly monitoring cash flow and burn rate, is essential to avoid common pitfalls. Networking relentlessly provides valuable support, advice, and opportunities through connections with entrepreneurs, groups, forums, and mentors. By focusing on these key areas, you'll be better equipped to navigate challenges and drive growth. Ultimately, a strong foundation in market understanding, team building, financial management, and networking sets startups up for long-term success.
